THE WORD IS THE STANDARD

(Scripture) :- Isaiah 8:20, ESV. "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

(The Word) :- Good morning Beloved of God. Hope you had a refreshing night? 

2 Peter 2:1says, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."

Here, Apostle Peter warns of false prophets and false teachers that bring heresies. An example of such heresies is that they say that, 'once you're born again, you can live your life the way you want, you'd still go to Heaven. They say that when God forgave you, He forgave your past, present and future sins, so all sins you commit in the future have already been forgiven today,' and unfortunately, many have believed such heresies and are being led to destruction. 

How then do we know which teaching  is heresy and which teaching isn't heresy? It's through the Word. This is why we all must study the Word. If you don't know what's right, the wrong will look like right, you'd be tossed here and there by the wind of wrong doctrines and teachings (Ephesians 4:13-14). 

Our anchor scripture tells us that after we have studied and understood the Word, if anyone now speaks outside the Word and not according to what we have seen in the Word, then it's because they don't have the Light (Jesus Christ) in them, and then we can avoid such people and run.  

Nowadays, in this generation, not everything we hear or see is correct anymore. Many have gone out into the world with wrong doctrines and heresies, and they are gaining grounds fast. It's been prophesied in I Timothy 4:1-3. However, we all need to study the Word in order to be able to see wrong doctrines for what they are. The Word is the standard. Anything other than what is in the Word is heresy. How much of the Word do you know? #SELAH
