LOVE MERCY

9th December, 2015 (Wednesday) - WORDS OF LIFE

LOVE MERCY

(Scripture) :- Micah 6:8, KJV. "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

(The Word) :- Good morning Royal Priesthood. Hope you slept well?

Apart from being honest, the number 2 requirement of God from us is that we love mercy. Mercy is an attribute of God. We can't properly define mercy if God is in isolation. Our God is a God who's plentiful in mercy. His mercy saved us and cleansed us from our ugly past. Everyone who is saved or regenerated today has received mercy from God, whether he/she knows it or not.

Apart from the fact that mercy spoke for us at the Cross to redeem and save us, mercy speaks for the believer every blessed day. There are times when the believer makes some mistakes God is not too happy with and because we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus the Righteous (I John 2:1), mercy speaks again and again.

Now, after being born again, God gives the Holy Spirit to every believer to dwell in the believer and the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer to begin to transform the believer to the person of God every blessed day so that one day the believer is a mirror of God (1 Cor. 3:18). So that, people can see the life of the believer and see God.

It, therefore, follows that since mercy is an attribute of God and the believer is expected to be like God after sometime in his walk with God, then the believer should also come to a point where he also begins to show mercy and have compassion on others. People trespass against us every blessed day and if we're going to give expression to the God-nature now in us, we're expected to show mercy.

In conclusion, it goes a little beyond showing mercy to loving mercy. It says we shouldn't just show mercy to others, we should also love it - meaning, never be in support of  a quarrel and always seek peace. Do you love mercy or do nothing even others are involved in a quarrel? #SELAH

Further Bible Study :- Matthew 18:26-35
