OUR STRENGTH

17th December, 2015 ( Thursday) - WORDS OF LIFE

OUR STRENGTH

(Scripture) :- Nehemiah 8:10, KJV. "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

(The Word) :- Good morning Great and Mighty Sons and Daughters of the Most High. Hope you had a blessed night rest?

The Christian race is not a joke. You begin this race the moment you're born again. Some have started the race about 10, 20 years ago and are still running while some have completed the race and have gone. Abraham ran the race for 100 years; for Enoch, it was 300 years. The length of the race differs for every individual and this race is not a joyride. It comes with its challenges, trials and tests.

Our fathers in the faith who finished well also went through these tests, challenges and trials and they emerged successful. The question is then: 'What kept them going?' What was the source of their strength until they finished the race?

The people of Israel had the same challenge during the days of Nehemiah. The walls were broken down, they were sad and depressed but as soon as Nehemiah finished speaking with them, they received strength and were ready to rebuild. Where did the strength come from? The answer is in our anchor scripture : The joy of the Lord.

This joy gives strength to the weak and hope to the hopeless. Every genuine believer keeps running the race regardless of what happens along the way because this joy is present in them. They know that one day, they will see their saviour. Paul had this joy and it helped him focus and not consider all he was going through. Stephen had this same joy and that put a smile on his face regardless of the fact that the people were throwing stones at him.

Do you have this joy? It's this joy of the Lord that supplies the strength to keep going, not giving attention to the distractions along the way. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. You can't have this joy if you're not born again. #SELAH
