Watch out for the letter 'I'

9th November, 2015 ( Monday) - WORDS OF LIFE

WATCH OUT FOR THE LETTER 'I'

Jeremiah 13:16, KJV . "Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness."

Good morning Sons and Daughters of the Most High. Hope you had a good rest?

Humility is a pre-requisite to receiving many things from God. As a matter of fact, you must be humble to receive anything from God. I Peter 5:6 tells us that the fastest route to the top is through humility and God will always fight for those who are humble; that was the case of Elisha and Moses. On the other hand, Scripture tells us that God resists the proud (James 4:6).

When the devil wants to destroy a man, he could start with pride (Proverbs 16:18). The devil uses pride to steal the blessings of many away. It's so bad that even those who are proud don't know they are proud. They tend to defend themselves by giving you all the reasons why they aren't proud. No one likes a proud person.

Pride doesn't just jump into the heart of man. The issue with the topic of pride is that it starts very subtly in the heart of man and by the time the individual involved realises it, he is already deep into it and only surrendering to God can save such. The devil start by opening the eye of the person to all the things he has accomplished. And then we begin to hear things like 'I did it', 'if not for me...', 'I deserve it' and so on.

The unfortunate part of the whole story is that sooner or later, the pride becomes an enemy of God because he begins to share in God's glory, something God will never allow (Isaiah 42:8). God doesn't respond well to those who share in His glory.

Let's consider the case of King Nebuchadnezzar. In Daniel 4:30, "The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?" He used the 'I' and 'my' words and God reacted. Our God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5).

A second case study is that of King Herod in Acts 12:23. "And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost."

Let's watch out for the letter 'I'. All glory should go to God. Humility is the way to continue to receive from God and if you know someone who's already falling into this trap of the devil, please try to save such by speaking to him/her.  #SELAH

Prayer Point: Father, every seed of pride in me, please uproot it today.
