Self - inflicted curses

6th November, 2015 (Friday) - WORDS OF LIFE

(Theme) :- SELF - INFLICTED CURSES

(Scripture) :-  Jeremiah 11:3, KJV. " And say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant."

(The Word) :- Pleasant morning greetings to you. Hope you had a good night?
Many of us are quick to attribute events that don't go our way, or those we do not like, to the devil. For instance, we fail an examination, fall sick, are cash strapped and we think the devil must surely be the cause. The statement 'it is the devil' or 'my enemies are at it again' and such as these aren't far fetched in such situation.

Many a times, it's not really the devil who's behind them but we ourselves. Please, don't misunderstand me. The devil is responsible for many  bad things but other times, we are the cause. You ask 'how'?

We are quick to forget kingdom principles. We are quick to say that it is the Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom (Luke 12 : 32)  and we forget that there are conditions to be met before we can receive what God gives.

For instance, to receive success, among other things, we must study and meditate on the Word day and night (Joshua 1:8), to dwell in good health, we must be obedient and serve Him (Exodus 15:26; 23:25), to be financially blessed we must be faithful with our tithes, giving, offerings and firstfruits (Luke 6:38, Prov.3:9, Mal. 3:9-12) and so on. You don't meet the conditions, you can't get them.

Deuteronomy chapter 28 is divided into 2 parts: the blessings and the curses. Obedience is the key to the the blessings and disobedience opens the door to the curses. Whichever one you decide to do will determine what follows you, blessing or curse. #SELAH
